Deepest Swimming Pool in the World

As I'm on holiday in Belgium I thought I would show you this. The deepest Swimming Pool in the World, the Nemo 33. This is in Brussels, and is an amazing architectural project that extends underwater into a project that provides a completely man-made diving pool. Perfect for scuba diving practices this 33 meter (105 feet) deep pool also doubles as a major tourist attraction.

The architect Sebastian Moran Vacca in collaboration with scuba diving expert John Beernaerts created a special filtering system that allows for it to be chemical free. The facility consists of two pools and 2 pit caves which appear to be modern cavernous underwater lairs. The air is renewed permanently in order to retain the correct amount of pressure and the anchoring points may be adjusted depending on the activity taking place like film shootings or scientfic experiments. The pool as a whole takes up a whopping 2,500,000 liters of water which is maintained at around 30 degrees celcius/ 86 degrees fahreheit. That's not all, Nemo 33 also hosts parties and also houses a restaurant, aqua gym and hydrotherapy.

I'm think True Tiger Party!!!

Legend of the Synth takes to the decks

Gustavo Bravetti - Alternative Controllers @ Tribaltech 2009 (SC edition) from Gustavo Bravetti on Vimeo.

Ok, so 99% of music we hear and make these days is all electronic based music. Starting from the humble synth things have progressed to where we are today. However, we would not be here without some of the pioneers of our time. People like Robert Moog who created the legendary MiniMoog, still used today. When it comes to using these mamouth synths there is no one more famous than the french genius, Jean Michelle Jarre.

The time has come for JMJ to take things to 2009 as he has now taken to the decks. check the video out for what DJ is evolving into . . .

Are nintendo about to wii their pants . . .

So E3 was a couple of days ago (for those who don't know, its one of the biggest gaming conferences in the tech calender) and Xbox has to be the show stopper at the moment. I have been debating if I were to get a console would i go PS3 (pretty much only for Gran Turismo 5) or Xbox. PS3 on paper is a much better machine, but Xbox just seem to be killing of PS3 as more titles move over to Xbox such as Metal Gear Solid, and the new Splinter Cell (which is exclusive to Xbox now). The cherry on the fast moving gaming cake has to be Xbox's latest announcement code named 'Natal'.

Its pretty much what Wii should have done, completely controller free gaming. Natal picks up 3D motion via a camera, face recognition, voice recognition, with what looks like amazing accuracy. the best way to work it out is to check out the demo video.

Wii or Xbox???? . . . i'm xbox now

Synth or Guitar?? . . . why not both!!!!

After my last post I have been really interested in MIDI control and some crazy things you might be able to do with some basic know how and some creativity. this has to be one of my favorites right now. I've heard of MIDI control with a GuitarHero axe, but mashing it up with a Korg Kaosilator is genius.

You can make one yourself. Learn how at http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-a-Korg-Kaossilator-Guitar/

Who knows you might be the brand new . . . Synth Slash!!!

Street Fighter Midi Control

In the electro world laptop driven DJ's are starting to really make some noise. I'll admit, I use ableton live to really create a different style of set, kinda like live remix mashup production djing . . . but the key to it all is control. No one wants to DJ and look like they are checking the latest post on TigerVision so maybe you need a controller like this! Custom made, it uses arcade buttons to really give a tactile feel. Next time you drop that big bass line you can do it with a SONIC BOOOOOOM!

Lappy Heatwave . . .

Ok, so how many of you own a laptop? Out of that how many of you own a MacBook Pro? The heat given off these things at the bottom is enough to cause a drought in the amazon rain forest! Trying to use these machines on your lap is a challenge as you will prob only last 5 minutes before being burnt to a crisp. Not anymore! Logitech have announced the Lapdesk. Its basically a comfortable cushion with a hard flat top for the laptop. Pretty simple but useful ideas for those who live with a laptop around the house.

Due out early 2009 for approx £30. Click here to check out more info.

The Camera Killer . . .

Canon have announced their new SLR camera, the Canon EOS 5D MkII. I have an interest in photography, but have never really been interested in camera, but this camera is something else. The only way to explain it is to watch this clip by Vincent Laforet who managed to get his hands on the new canon and shot this in a weekend to show of its amazing ability in low light conditions. I want one of these cameras!
